SCOTTISH TRADITIONAL EVENING
September 20 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm£10 - £12
Aberdeen Folk Club has secured the services of three of Scotland’s leading traditional performers – Aileen Carr, Tom Spiers and Arthur Watson – all on the same evening!
Aileen was born and brought up in rural Perthshire in a musical household and she can’t remember a time when she didn’t sing! Hearing people like Belle Stewart perform quickly set her on the path to becoming one of Scotland’s most expressive interpreters of traditional song.
Aberdeen-born Tom, who along with Arthur is famous for his roles in the Gaugers and Shepheard, Spiers and Watson, has attended Aberdeen Folk Club, where he served his apprenticeship as a fiddler and singer, since 1962. At the Aberdeen club he got to know and admire legendary singers such as Jeannie Robertson, Jimmy McBeath and Lizzie Higgins, who were an invaluable source of material.
Arthur, born and raised in Aberdeen where he was a cathedral choir singer, is today a leading contemporary artist and has been inspired by leading Irish whistle players as well as the legends named above.
A night not to be missed by any traditional singing follower!
Admission £12 (members/concessions £10)
